Improve the use of observations in Earth System Model evaluation and research by technically aligning targeted datasets with well-established conventions widely used within the modeling and research community.

Having model and observational data technically aligned provides a design target for developers of model evaluation capabilities as well as facilitating analysis more broadly within the research community.
Summary
A project for coordinating the identification, documentation, and dissemination of observations used for climate model evaluation. Data (and tech notes) are accessible with the distributed CMIP model output via ESGF, adhering to same conventions.
