Description

U.S. and Brazilian collaborators will combine to study one of the most complex climate processes on Earth: the atmosphere-cloud-terrestrial tropical systems that drive tropical deep convection in the Amazon. Three funding opportunities related to the Green Ocean Amazon (GOAMAZON) field campaign are now open. GOAMAZON is a deployment of the ARM Mobile Facility to Brazil beginning in 2014. The three calls are being issued in coordination by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), and the Amazonas Research Foundation (FAPEAM) through the following announcements:

All three funding opportunities request collaborations between researchers from the U.S. and Brazil that are funded by the DOE and by FAPEAM and/or FAPESP. The goal is to promote and strengthen collaborations in the field of Amazonian tropical ecosystems between researchers from the U.S., State of São Paulo, and State of Amazonas. Research projects should align with the goals of one of the DOE programs participating in GOAMAZON:

Applicants are to apply for funding from their respective country's funding agency. Approximately 6 to 8 awards are expected across the three topical areas, contingent on the number of applications and funding availability.
